Trombone
Hailing from Buffalo, New York, Richard LaRouech’s talents are gaining recognition around the New York Metropolitan area. In the spring of 2024, Richard earned a Jazz Performance and Music Education degree at William Paterson University of New Jersey. At William Paterson, he was under the tutelage of some of New York City’s jazz luminaries, including Bill Charlap, Jeremy Pelt, John Mosca, and many others. His time at William Paterson was highlighted by appearances on WBGO’s radio station, performances at Dizzy’s Club in NYC, and an appearance on the cover of the New Jersey Jazz Society’s monthly magazine. Richard’s talents have also been recognized nationally and internationally, being selected as a finalist for the American Trombone Workshop competition and the International Trombone Association’s Carl Fontana and JJ Johnson Competitions.
Since graduating, he has been able to perform with the World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, Jeff Jarvis, and The Stone City Band, formerly led by Rick James. While Richard’s primary area of study is jazz, he does not put labels on the styles of music he plays and enjoys. He has had experience participating in multiple orchestras around the Western New York area, including the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. He also rounds out the horn section in a popular Buffalo reggae-ska band, Part-Time Genius. Richard aims to continue making a name for himself as a musician and aspiring educator in Western New York and the Tri-State areas.
